Streamside Day

Streamside Day (2003) is a 26min fictional film by Pierre Huyghe, following a young family that relocates to a new housing development, hypothetically located in Hudson Valley.

The film opens with a bucolic idyll in an Edenic landscape and is followed by a celebration for the founding of the new community, with a parade, costumes, music, hot dogs, hamburgers, corn, pumpkin pies, ice cream, lemonade and green cotton candy.

Huyghe’s project employs a diverse range of cultural representations, from nineteenth-century utopian social projects to Hollywood films, Disney animation, contemporary fiction writing and romantic landscape painting.
