покорим KOCMOC!

Photo from the open casket funeral of Soviet cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov.  His spaceflight on Soyuz 1 made him the first cosmonaut to fly into outer space more than once and the first human to die during a spaceflight when the Soyuz 1 space capsule tragically crashed after re-entry on April 24, 1967. CCCP

The Georgian Ministry of Highway Construction (Tbilisi, Georgia, 1975)

90 buildings in 14 former-USSR republics build from 1970 until 1990  are photographed by Frédéric Chaubin in his book ‘CCCP, Cosmic Communist Constructions Photographed’ (insisting ‘unintentionally-naively ’ as most west Europeans to read Cyrillic S same  as Latin C, Я as R, И as N, etc).  Nevertheless, the buildings’ forms reveal amazing inventiveness and plurality.

O tempora! O mores!

This a very good portrait picture but what gives it historical value is the model . Leonid Brezhnev, the  Marshal of the Soviet Union (in office1964 –1982) is pictured while talking casually and semi naked on the phone . Pointedly observed here:

Publishing such photo in Soviet Russia could cause all the staff of the issuing edition to go to some distant Siberian mine.
