Ark Nova hall / Anish Kapoor, Arata Isozaki

ark nova 2

World’s first large scale inflatable concert hall (500 to 700 p) designed by Japanese architect Arata Isozaki and British-Indian sculptor Anish Kapoor.

The translucent purple skin is modelled on Kapoor’s Leviathan sculptures (previously. feat. here). The seating and acoustic reflectors for the interior are made of found tsunami-damaged cedar trees.

The air- inflatable Ark Nova hall will tour the devastated regions in Japan, aiming to offer hope and joy in the form of music and performance arts.

The Balloon Factory, a project by Object Design League, produces balloons for special events and by request. The pictures above are from the “Japan Premium Beef” meat shop @NY, where they created a set of butcher-themed balloons (in the tradition of Sam Baron’s sausage installation there in 2010).
The meat balloons are up for sale until supplies run out. Get one at the ODLCO online store.
