Red-light Yokohama

A  long and narrow  shop + office  in Kanagawa,  renovated  by Yasutaka Yoshimura architects.

Space design recalls the red lights that used to be shining on this neighborhood (Koganecho) with a phenomenon called persistence of complementary color. Those who come back from green space into white space will feel for a second a red light. This is because when surrounded by green light, one becomes more sensitive to red as a complementary color, so that one see the white room as red room.
