Dali Atomicus

The infamous “Dali Atomicus” by Philippe Halsman, shot in 1948, in a pre-photoshop era where it took 28 attempts. It explores the idea of suspension, depicting three cats flying, a bucket of thrown water, and Salvador Dalí in mid air.  See more of Halsman’s work, here.
