A hotel in a renovated medieval Italian castle, located in Prata Sannita, a small village with a slowly declining population and an increasingly abandoned historical center. What makes this project brilliant – apart from it’s minimal design in the few rooms scattered throughout the castle- is the concept of the Million Donkey hotel. Constructed entirely by local residents on an extremely limited budget, the project was meant to provide them with the skills and inspiration. The hotel is run by the association which was set up by the volunteers who helped built the project.

The most interesting room has a rolling bed on steel tracks, allowing guests to choose to sleep inside under the heavy rock walls, out outside under the sky; suspended over the town with vistas toward the surrounding mountains
